A new year has begun, and with that a lot of new challanges and projects are on the horizon! The stable is already full of exciting young horses, all hoping to be the next star at Landsmót ´10. Among those are of course our stallion Ívar, out of Krummi frá Blesastöðum; 2 young mares out of Rökkvi frá Hárlaugsstöðum,  daughters of Róði frá Múla, Aron frá Strandarhöfði, Orri frá Þúfu and many many more! Along with training my horses, I have now begun teaching in Hvolsvöllur. There is a course for the pleasure rider, once a week and then I have introduced the rather new Knapamerki system to this town as well. Knapamerki consists of 5 levels which are very well structured from the beginning of horsemanship all the way to a farely advanced level of riding. My first group of students decided to challange the first level and took only a few lessons before taking the test, and to everyone´s delight, everyone passed! Artemisia Bertus was our judge and I want to thank her for coming and doing a great job :) This group of people will then begin the course at the second level and a few others are even taking a few lessons to challenge the second test as well, to begin their schooling at the 3rd level. Since the first two levels are rather basic, people who have been riding for a long time, and even working with horses, have the chance to challenge the first two levels. After that, it´s nose to the grindstone and they have to then partake in the 3rd level of instruction. Every level has both a practical and a theoretical part and studends are tested in both areas.  I would like to take this opportunity to say congratulations everyone, and good luck for the future tests :)
