Tómas Örn Snorrason
Tómas Örn Snorrason was born in Reykjavík, 1973. He began riding at a very young age and has been professionally training horses since the age of 19. He is a certified trainer and Riding Instructor C and an active member in the Icelandic Horse Trainers Association (FT), as well as a Sport competition judge.
In 1997 he bought a training stable together with his friend Robert Petersen, in Víðidal Reykjavík. They operated the stable boarding, training, teaching, selling, and shoeing horses for 10 years.
Tommi has spent a large quantity of time abroad with clinics and training in Germany, Denmark, USA with Guðmar Pétursson, and Canada at Vindsdalur Icelandic Horse Farm.
He has participated in several Landsmót competitions and was twice chosen as an Icelandic Team member for the World Championship. In 1995 he rode Embla frá Miðengi in the 5/6 year old mares breeding competition, where she was the highest judged mare for rideability. 2003 Tommi competed Denmark in Tölt T2 with the gæðingur Skörungur frá Bragholti, where they finished in 5th place.
He has been the organizer of several large riding shows and has successfully taught many children for the Icelandic Riding Badges Levels 1-5.
Jelena Ohm
Jelena Ohm was born in 1984 in Uelzen, Germany. She started riding Icelandic horses at the age of 3 as a pastime with her mother. In 1994 her family decided to move to Canada and they took three of their icelandics with them. From there it has expanded to a low-quantity high-quality breeding farm, Vindsdalur Icelandic Horse farm, which her mother, Lisi Ohm runs in central B.C. Together they began the long breed introduction journey for the Icelandic horse. This is still an ongoing process today.
Jelena worked at Vindsdalur for a few years training horses until she was asked to be a team leader at the 2002 Youth Cup in Sweden. There she met Walter Feldmann jr. whom she then worked for for 6 months in preparation for the 2003 World Championships in Denmark, where she participated for Canada.
January 2004, Jelena moved to the north of Iceland to work at Þingeyrar and Sveinsstaðir for 9 months. She started her first year at the Agricultural College of Hólar that fall and graduated 2 years later as a certified trainer. She took a 2 year break from her studies running a training facility together with Tommi in the south of Iceland, in Forsæti, and returned to Hólar for the 3rd and final year in January 2009. She is now a qualified FT Riding Instructor C , Trainer, Gæðinga- and Sport competition judge.
